Hewlett Packard has renewed the
arrangements with Connect to run the
web-based HP-UX Porting and Archive
Centre – for the fifteenth consecutive
year! Since it was established in August 1992 as the first Hewlett Packard web- based project, the HP-UX Porting and Archive Centre has been operated and maintained by staff based at Liverpool company Connect Internet Solutions Limited. It is the world’s largest single archive of free software for Hewlett Packard UNIX systems, and its primary aim is to make public domain, freeware and Open Source software more readily available to users of Hewlett-Packard UNIX systems. Connect maintains the software catalogue which now contains over 2,200 packages in binary and source format, with over 500,000 free software packages distributed from the archive per month, reaching over 70 countries. There are also 4 mirror sites around the world to which software updates on the UK site are automatically mirrored. Colin Charlton, CEO of Connect comments, “We are very pleased to continue to operate the archive for Hewlett Packard. The longevity of this arrangement and the continuing and growing success of the archive serve as testimony to a successful partnership” | More on HP Unix Porting & Archive Centre |
