Connect Learning Centres, managed by
Connect Internet Solutions, will now
offer ITQ (Information Technology
Qualification) to employees.
Nationally recognised, ITQ is a
flexible IT qualification package
which provides tailored training to
meet the specific needs of employers
and their staff.
Described as the ‘NVQ for IT users’,
ITQ enables employees to develop
skills at different levels, according
to the type of organisation and the
role of the individual. Skills gaps
are identified and training is
designed to fill these, so that the
organisation gets what it needs.
Where staff already have an IT
qualification, they can use it to
count towards an ITQ, enabling them to
develop their skills without having to
demonstrate skills they have already
had assessed.
ITQ covers a myriad of subjects from
efficient file storage to effective
use of email, spreadsheets and even
how to use any bespoke software that
the organisation may have.
Connect Training’s own broad portfolio
of IT courses complements ITQ by
helping businesses develop a holistic
approach to improving IT skills across
the entire organisation. Whereas ITQ
caters for IT users, Connect Training
is mainly suited to the requirements
of IT professionals, such as network
administrators and web developers.
Ian Cockayne, Training Manager with
Connect Internet Solutions,
comments, “With e-skills UK reporting
that over 70% of UK employers believe
their workforce is seriously under-
productive because it lacks the
relevant IT skills, it’s obvious that
businesses need to take immediate
action to fill the gap.
“With our expertise, Connect can take
the hard work out of IT training and
development by enabling businesses to
access the most appropriate solutions
to all their IT training needs,
through one point of contact.”
Connect is offering a special
incentive to employers who are willing
to support employees undertaking the
ITQ. If an employee completes an ITQ
by 31 July 2006, the employer can book
two places on Connect Training courses
for the price of one (with the
possibility of saving up to £1250).
