Child Protection Audit Tool
In July 2003, the Welsh Assembly
Government commissioned the Commission
for Health Improvement (CHI) to do an
audit of child protection arrangements
in Wales.
Connect was contracted in November
2003 by CHI to provide the online
child protection audit tool. A web-
based questionnaire was developed,
which all 38 Welsh NHS organisations
had to complete. These inputs were
collected onto a database, also
developed by Connect, and then
analysed by a team of experts who
rated the services offered by each
health trust before publishing the
results. The tool was highly
effective in helping identify key
areas for strategic action.
